Download Notabene3
Version 3.001. Free to try, with no time limit. If you buy a licence later, you don't need to download it again: just enter your key.
Windows
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
The Microsoft Store version is the easiest: it installs and updates like any other Store app.
About the installer. The installer isn't signed with a code-signing certificate yet, so when you run it Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. It installs just for you, in your own user folder, so it won't ask for an administrator password. To uninstall it, use Settings > Apps.
Linux
An AppImage for 64-bit Intel and AMD PCs, which runs on most up-to-date distributions, including Ubuntu 24.04 or later, Fedora and Linux Mint. There's nothing to install.
Once it's downloaded, make it executable, then run it. In most file managers that's Properties > Permissions > Allow executing file as program, or in a terminal:
chmod +x notabene3-3.001-x86_64.AppImage ./notabene3-3.001-x86_64.AppImage
The first time it runs, Notabene3 offers to add itself to your applications menu, so you can launch it, and pin it, like any other app. You can add or remove it later from the Tools menu.
macOS
Coming soon, for Apple Silicon Macs. If you'd like to hear when it's ready, let us know.
What you'll need
- Guitar, bass or violin: an audio interface is best, but your computer's built-in microphone works too, in a quiet room.
- Keyboard or piano: a USB MIDI keyboard. A digital piano with a USB port usually works too.
